چکیده

Abstract The Cautín River is closely related with the economic development of Temuco city, (38°S; Chile). Existing knowledge limited to information about its biological characteristics as a reference for evaluation and assessment water quality. object this study was develop taxonomic characterisation benthic macroinvertebrates along main course River, community structure using correlation analysis between parameters. To carry out research, macroinvertebrate studied in 10 sampling sites distributed river. samples were taken summer (1997 2000), when optimal hydrological conditions existed. Analysis showed that fauna composed 56 taxa, dominant group being insects 48 taxa. Three sectors recognised River: high, middle low. Each sector has restricted-distribution species, while other species are widely These distribution patterns seem be influenced by dissolved oxygen concentration, temperature, altitudinal anthropo-cultural activity, present at every site. Finally, research provides first approach biology River. Further studies could planned on basis investigate quality indicators based communities.

Inland water microcrustacean assemblages in an altitudinal gradient in Aysen region (46° S, Patagonia Chile).

The Chilean Patagonia has numerous kinds of inland water ecosystems such as lakes, ponds, wetlands and rivers that have been poorly studied due to access difficulties. This study was carried out in Aysen region, in southern Chile, and it included different kinds of water bodies such as rivers, streams, ponds, lagoons and lakes distributed along an altitudinal gradient at 46° S. It was found a l...

Crustacean communities in coastal ephemeral pools in the Araucanía region (38° S, Chile).

The fauna communities of ephemeral pools in southern Chile are characterized by heterogeneity of crustacean taxa; nevertheless, no detailed studies exist of their community structure. The aim of the present study was to analyze the crustacean community structure in two groups of ephemeral pools (Puaucho and Nigue pools) in the coastal zone of the Araucanía region. A correlation matrix was made ...

First observations of the aquatic invertebrate fauna in ephemeral Atacama River (22° S, Antofagasta Region, Chile)

The invertebrate communities of the northern Chilean rivers are characterised by their marked endemism andspecificity of their community structure in different basins. The river systems located in the Atacama Desert are endorheicand are affected by the rainy period of January-February commonly known as the “Bolivian winter“. The present study isthe first report on the observations of arthropods...
